Earth Clock: How has Earth changed today?

The Earth Clock is a real time simulation based on the changing nature of a range of environmental factors.  Using statistics from a number of sources it provides information on the worlds population, CO2 emissions, waste production and much more.  The Earth Clock was designed by Poodwaddle.com and is based on figures from sources including the United Nations, EPA and the US Census Bureau.  Naturally given the nature of the information the accuracy of the data cannot be guaranteed, and is provided only as an illustration.

So, do Species becoming extinct have a direct correlation to the amount of Ocean Oil Spills?

I love this clock, seen it before but it’s great to see it again. Some of the facts on there are quite scary though- like Global Temperature :O

    Wow!
That really puts things into perspective
A scary one at that though :O

funny how the more the c02 goes up the higher the temperature goes up i just cant decide if our pullution of the atmoshpere heats the earth (saracasm)

Nuclear waste should be replaced with something that is actually a hazard to the environment. Like “Tons of industrial Mercury dumped into water supply” or “Amount of sulfur released from coal power plants”. Nuclear waste is managed and not a hazard.

Yea, whats the deal with the direct correlation between oil spills and species extinctions?

  13. Ronnie Blaze | Oct 23, 2007 | Reply

The temperature-CO2 relationship is there… however, what also needs to be considered is the fact that that relationship is PRECEDED by the temperature change! Something Al Gore conveniently forgets to mention. If climate change is happening is not the debate, the debate is on what our global masters solution to the problem is. Watch “The Great Global Warming Swindle” on google video or divx stage 6 for more of the science of the issue.

Humans are not causing global warming.

A factor not apparent in this graphic:

World oil production has already peaked and will fall by half as soon as
2030, according to a report which also warns that extreme shortages of
fossil fuels will lead to wars and social breakdown.

and: T. Boone Pickens: we peaked last year, globally

Not that I am arguing that CO2 emissions are not affecting the global temperature, but by watching the number increase for CO2 emissions and the global temperature increase and then concluding that they must be related because they are both increasing is absurd. You may as well say that because both the HIV incidence is increasing and the global temperature, that HIV must be responsible for global warming.

I think this needs to show how much co2 has been absorbed into plants on land and in the oceans and turned back into oxygen.
