Leading Firms Sign Up For Carbon Rating

Several leading companies in the UK have signed up to be involved in a scheme to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of certain products. During the scheme these companies will work alongside the Carbon Trust to measure the ecological impact of each product, from the sourcing of raw material right through to the disposal.
The companies involved in the scheme will be using a draft product standard which is being developed by the Carbon Trust, the government and BSI British Standards.
The companies signed up to the scheme, along with the products being measured, include the following:
- Coca-Cola - Coca-Cola will be measuring the carbon footprint of both a sparkling and still drink from its range of drinks.
- Cadbury Schweppes - Cadbury will measure the carbon footprint produced during the life cycle of a bar of Dairy Milk.
- Muller Dairy (UK) Ltd - One type of Muller yoghurt.
- Halifax - The Halifax Web Saver account.
- The Co-Operative Group - The Co-Operative Group will measure the impact of a 200g and 400g punnet of strawberries.
- Scottish and Newcastle - A can of Fosters Lager and a bottle of Bulmers Cider.
- Kimberly-Clark - Kimberly-Clark will measure the environmental impact of Huggies nappies and Andrex toilet tissue.
It is encouraging that some of our leading companies are taking the issue of climate change seriously, and that steps are being taken to reduce the environmental impact of some of the nations favourite brands. Hopefully more and more companies will follow suit.

This is good to know. Quite a few large firms in the past have been involved in illegal activities, so any clarity makes the whole system better

I just Googled up Coca-Cola in Google™ images because i was wondering why Coca-Cola 375ml cans have a different design on them now. This is a great thing that leading firms are contributing in.
