Organic food really is better for you - FACT

Organic FoodA four year £12 million project into organic food has found that organic food IS better for us when compared to standard produce.  The European Union funded project found that organic fruit and vegetables contain up to 40% more antioxidants and other beneficial minerals, such as iron and zinc.  It is believed that antioxidants can help to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.

The benefits of organic fruit and vegetables have long been debated, with many people claiming that there are no significant differences between organic and ordinary produce.  The current advice given by Government is that eating organic food is no more than a lifestyle choice.  In light of this new study the Food Standards Agency have confirmed that it will be reviewing the evidence before deciding whether or not to change their advice.

Whilst the benefits of eating organic produce may now have been proven, the problem which many people will still face is the price difference between organic and ordinary produce.  Many people simply can’t afford to spend extra money on organic produce, whether they would like to or not.

It’s great to finally have a scientific study prove what so many of us have known to be true for many years.

Personally, I wonder if because there is more nutrition in organic food, we eat less so it can actually help people lose weight too!

Unlike food that has been deliberately designed to have little nutrition to make people eat more!
